Amanda Harvey

Amanda Harvey is the owner and principal lawyer of Thrive Workplace Consulting & Legal.

Predominately servicing employers and senior employees, Amanda has experience working with medium to large corporate, along with NSW, QLD and Federal Government clients. Amanda is a trusted advisor to senior executives, HR staff and direct supervisors regarding employee management, workplace legislation and the development of appropriate strategy and policy objectives.

Amanda is an experienced, pragmatic and versatile workplace relations lawyer, and holds complimentary degrees in psychology and a Master of Labour Law and Relations. Her advice work includes PR sensitive, strategic management of investigations, terminations and exit strategy, with an emphasis on providing commercial solutions and minimising employee distress, any damage to workplace culture and damage to reputation. Amanda also has experience working with executives and professional services staff on effective delegation, self auditing for work life balance and personal controls when operating in a global environment to minimise stress and time pressures.

Amanda is also accomplished at conducting independent workplace investigations into employee conduct and workplace culture- including misconduct, discrimination and bullying and harassment investigations. She has an interest in and often work with experts in computer forensics, helping businesses to manage processes required to assess employee conduct involving computers and electronic devices. This is particularly important, given the new risks that develop because of workforce participation in social media and both personal and business presence online.

Amanda also has experience in representing clients in employment related and discrimination claims in all Australian jurisdictions, and can provide bespoke training services for organisations on workforce management, procedural fairness and appropriate workplace behaviour.

In addition to providing advice from a legal perspective, Amanda uses her social services and people management background to provide people and business oriented solutions.

Client Testimonials

"Amanda has been trusted counsel, guiding Kennards Self Storage through all aspects of employment and industrial law since 2005. This has involved the successful resolution of industrial disputes and EBA creation, negotiation and approval. Amanda has taken the time to understand our culture, management style and our business requirements, providing sound, ethical advice appropriate for our industry" Darren Marshall, Kennards Self Storage

"I recently engaged Thrive Workplace Consulting & Legal to assist me with an employment matter. I found Amanda Harvey to be a highly experienced and committed individual, with extensive knowledge of employment law and workplace practices. Amanda has a refreshing, common sense approach. She understands and considers the personal impacts of decisions, rather than focusing purely on the legal approach. Amanda worked around the clock for me to ensure that extremely time sensitive deadlines were met and and that negotiations did not stall. In fact, all communication was done remotely as I am interstate, but despite this, communication was constant, responsive and thorough. Amanda's counsel led to a successful outcome for me. I highly recommend Amanda Harvey and Thrive Workplace Consulting & Legal."- Stuart Himing

"Thrive provided me with practical advice in relation to my staffing issues. I feel that Amanda has helped me to protect my interests as an employer whilst also allowing me to be fair to my employees."
Kylie Rose - Principal - Kylie Rose & Associates.

I have worked with Amanda since 2008 on a wide variety of issues, including a number of especially delicate employment law matters and internal investigations. In addition to being a very skilled legal practitioner, I was highly impressed with Amanda's balanced insight and commercial approach. She quickly developed trust and credibility with internal stakeholders, and always ensured her advice was presented in an accessible and actionable way. I would not hesitate to recommend her services. Sarah Willsallen, Fuji Xerox
